Cadillac Points its Guns at Ferrari with New CTS-V Coupe Ad

In many ways, General Motors luxury brand Cadillac is enjoying a renaissance these past few years.

And from what we can tell, the Detroit automaker plans to intensify its assault on the premium segment in the coming years with many new launches such as the ATS compact sedan, the ELR Coupe with extended-range electric vehicle technology and possibly, a production model inspired by the well-received Ciel study.

But before we see a new wave of Cadillacs hitting the streets, the Detroit maker is looking to tout its current portfolio with a very aggressive commerical that points its guns directly at Ferrari.

Spied: Ferrari 599 Replacement Filmed Doing the Rounds on the Fiorano Test Track

Ferrari seems to be hell bent on replacing its entire lineup in just two years time. In 2010, Maranello revealed the F430’s successor, the gorgeous 458 Italia. This year, the not-so-beautiful (to put it nicely) 612 Scaglietti gave its place to the brand’s first ever four-wheel-drive sports GT, the shooting-brake-bodied FF.

And only three days ago, the Italians debuted the F430 Spider’s replacement, the 458 Italia Spider featuring a retractable hard top that will make its world premiere at next month's Frankfurt Motor Show.

In the Spotlight: How to Overkill a Ferrari 458 Italia

Electric lamps are so passé these days. The way of the future is LEDs or Light-emitting diodes that can be found just about everywhere. Lately, LEDs have taken the automotive industry by storm with carmakers offering them either optionally or standard on most of their models.

But it’s not only regular carmakers that have adopted the new lighting technology; so has the tuning industry which discovered a new toy to attract consumers. The results, as you can see from this example of a Ferrari 458 Italia slathered in LEDs, aren’t always graceful. Video follows after the break.

Ferrari 458 Italia Xbox 360 Steering Wheel Brings Some Maranello Magic to your Playroom

Chances are most of us will never have the opportunity to drive, let alone own, a Ferrari 458 Italia. But a racing game for a gaming console like Microsoft’s Xbox 360, is certainly within the reach of most.

Even though you will have to do without the hand-stitched cream leather of the interior, the actual G’s squeezing your body in corners and, of course, the gorgeous bodywork, Thrustmaster wants to bring the 458 experience closer to with the Ferrari 458 Italia Racing Wheel for the Xbox 360.

F1: Schumacher Denies Retirement Rumors, “Will Certainly Race Next Year Whether You Like it or Not”

There’s been a lot of talk recently about Michael Schumacher’s return to F1 and whether it was the right decision or not. Nikki Lauda even called for him to resign saying, “if he wants to be honest with himself”.

Recently, rumors started circulating in the Italian press that the seven-times world champion is seriously considering retiring, this time for good, after being beaten by his much younger team mate, Nico Rosberg.

Ferrari Boss Says No to Electric Models, Endorses Hybrid Tech

Electric vehicles are the new black. Most mainstream manufacturers either have or are currently developing an EV in order to promote their environmentally friendly profile and at the same time, reduce the average fuel consumption and CO2 emissions of their fleet to comply with stricter future regulations.

However, Ferrari’s president, Luca di Montezemolo begs to differ. And we are talking about the man responsible for transforming Maranello’s supercars from fragile and non-practical toys for the wealthy to the finest in their class, while also turning the Scuderia’s F1 fortunes around bringing home five consecutive world championships.

A Tribute to Enzo Ferrari

August 14 marked the 23rd anniversary of the death of Enzo Ferrari. The man who founded Ferrari was, according to some, a difficult man to deal with, as ingenious people usually tend to be. But no one ever questioned his passion about racing and his dedication to the company he founded in 1947. His life was long and complicated –so we'll just write a few words for the man who founded the company that built some of the finest supercars the world has ever seen. Read more »

SPIED: Ferrari Continues Work on 599's Replacement

After the launch of the 458 Italia and more recently, the four-seater FF, Ferrari is now concentrating on the development of its next supercar, which will replace the 599 GTB Fiorano and is currently known by its F152 codename.

Our spy photographers caught up with a test mule of the F152 wearing a modified body shell of the current 599 GTO over a new chassis that is believed to share many components with the FF.

Ferrari's four-seat supercar will also lend its new 6.3-liter V12 with direct-injection technology to the F152, but further honed to develop around 700 horsepower. However, we won't see the FF's all-wheel drive system as Ferrari will keep the F152 strictly rear-wheel drive.

F1: Ferrari Gives Up on 2011 Championship to Prepare Next Year’s Car

Truth to be said, Scuderia Ferrari had a bad start in the F1 season this year. Nevertheless, changes to the personnel and, more importantly, to the Ferrari F1 car's aerodynamic package gradually improved its pace considerably, yielding a win in Great Britain and four podium finishes for Fernando Alonso.

But even with Felippe Massa saying that nothing's over and Luca di Montezemolo claiming that he expects more wins in 2011, team principal Stefano Domenicali revealed to the Telegraph that the Scuderia will stop developing this year’s car in September.

F1: Ferrari's Montezemolo Expects More Wins this Season

Ferrari president, Luca di Montezemolo, has stated that he expects the Scuderia to win more races this season. And this despite the fact that in the 11 first races of the year they have won only once, with Fernando Alonso in the British Grand Prix at Silverstone.

Video: Two Girls, a Red Ferrari F430, a Mediocre Parking Job

It's become something of spectator sport over in Europe and chiefly in London: people equipped with a handy cam waiting for a hot car to pass by to record it and upload the video on Youtube.

As with anything else in life, sometimes it pays off, sometimes it does not and our amateur producers are left with a bitter taste in the mouth.
