RSC Predator GT: German Startup Allegedly Aspires to Build the World's Greatest Hypercar with…2,800HP

There's no shortage of small startups promising to build exotic supercars these days. Just a couple of months ago we showed you Poland's first venture into a segment dominated by names like Lamborghini and Porsche (before you viciously attack our comment area, we're not saying it will actually compete with Lambo…), the Arrinera.
Now, Carscoop reader Juha pointed us to a German startup, which to be frank, we have never heard before. The company is called Rotary Supercars Germany and on its website, it says it plans to create "a symbiosis of the ultimate hypercar and active environmental care".

Guess What Ford is Bringing to the Frankfurt Motor Show this Year?

The above rendering is the work of independent designer David Cardoso

While we wish Carscoop reader and independent designer David Cardoso the best of luck in his work, the 2013 Ford Focus Coupé Design Study that he drew up and which is pictured above, isn't the surprise that Ford is planning for this year's edition of the Frankfurt Motor Show.

However, it does represent the type of vehicle we will be seeing in less than a month's time in Germany.

Subaru Names its RWD Coupe the BRZ, will Show New Concept in Frankfurt

The wait for the unveiling of Subaru's version of the Toyota FT-86 (and let's not forget, the Scion FR-S) continues but the Japanese company has at least given us a name for the car and more importantly, a launch date.

Subaru’s new rear-wheel drive sports coupe, which is still currently under joint development with Toyota, will be named BRZ. According to the automaker, the name stands for “Boxer engine”, “Rear-wheel drive” and “Zenith”.

Video Presentations of the 2013 Lexus GS and Infiniti JX Showcar

Leaving aside the elegant Cadillac Ciel which is a pure design study (for now), the big production stars of this year's edition of the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance festival in Monterey, California, are the 2013 Lexus GS 350 and the production-ready Infiniti JX showcar.

We have already presented both cars in detail but we now have video footage from the presentation events that took place on Thursday evening ahead of the Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance, and which you can watch right after the break.

It should be quite clear to everyone now that Hyundai and its Kia affiliate have lifted the bar and are now looking to compete with brands that used to shun them.

New Cadillac Ciel 4-door Convertible Concept Wows Pebble Beach Crowd [Photos + Video]

GM's Cadillac division is on a roll lately. After confirming the production of three new cars including the XTS large luxury saloon, the BMW 3-Series rivaling ATS compact sports sedan, and the ELR Coupe plug-in hybrid EV, Cadillac revealed an impressive new concept model called Ciel that looks into the future but winks at the past.

Named after the French word for sky, the Ciel is a large (5.174 mm or 203.7-in. in length) four-seat, four-door convertible with “suicide” rear doors and no B-pillar reminiscent of the 1961 Lincoln Continental convertible.

“Large, expressive luxury is innate to Cadillac and the Ciel recalls that heritage, while suggesting where the brand can go in the future,” said Clay Dean, global design director for Cadillac. “Authentic luxury is driven by experiences, not just products, and Ciel is about the experience of the journey.”

Infiniti Shows All-New JX 7-Seater Crossover Concept at Pebble Beach

It's been a long, slow tease, with plenty of cropped photos, but today, Infiniti unveiled the JX Concept at the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance event in Monterey, California.

Even though Infiniti calls it a concept, what you see here is more or less what you'll get when the production version of the JX makes the trip to the 2011 Los Angeles Auto Show.

On the outside, the JX shares several design cues with the firm's Essence concept such as the headlamp and grille design as well as the crescent-cut D-pillar, but overall, Infiniti's foray into the 7-seater crossover segment won't win any awards for its looks.

2011 SEMA: What is this Oddball Chevy Creation?

This year's edition of the Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA) show in Las Vegas is a still long way off but some tuners have already begun teasing their custom creations.

This strange photo of an unnamed project car appeared on a dedicated SEMA show page on Facebook. There are no details about the build other than it will appear at the show in first week of November.

While it's evident that the five-door hatchback model sports the face of the Chevrolet Cruze, we're not sure about the body (and no, it's not the Cruze hatch). If you have any ideas or thoughts, skip the jump and head over to our comments section to share.

Will the Jeep-based SUV Turn Maserati into the New Porsche?

[The above photo is an independent rendering, not the actual Maserati SUV Concept]

Most Italian sports car lovers believe a Jeep-based Maserati SUV will be a disgrace to the company's history, while pragmatists and analysts alike that it is a possible way to revitalize the brand. And those who remember our recent story concerning the soon to be launched Maserati SUV can strike the word “rumor” from the title.

Sources from within the company confirmed today that the Italian company will indeed launch a Jeep Grand Cherokee-based SUV concept at the Frankfurt Motor Show next month. What’s more, the same insiders said that the luxury SUV will be manufactured not at Modena, like all other sports cars bearing the trident badge, but at Chrysler’s Jefferson North plant in Detroit.

GM’s EN-V to Replace Cars in Tianjin, China’s Futuristic Eco-City

At the 2010 Shanghai World Expo, General Motors (GM) unveiled a trio of two-wheeled neighborhood electric vehicles (NEVs) collectively named EN-V to the world.

Unlike the brand’s mainstream models, these concepts were lightweight and compact EVs for an as-of-yet unrealised city of the future. With a host of telematics and cameras to avoid other EN-Vs, pedestrians and other obstacles on the road coupled with a highly accurate GPS system, these concepts were theoretically accident-proof and self-driving.

Now a consortium from China and Singapore are drawing up plans for Tianjin Eco-City: a large-scale prototype for the sort of sustainable, high-density communities we’re expected to see in the coming decades.

Ever since GM displayed the Cadillac Converj at the 2009 Detroit Motor Show, rumors have swirled that a production model was under consideration. But we now have official confirmation that the pure electric Converj is indeed moving forward as a production car that will be named the Cadillac ELR.

Morgan Readying Pure Electric Aero Supersport Concepts

One of the oldest and most traditional carmakers in the world, Morgan Motors, has joined forces with a consortium of British technology specialists for the development of two new pure-electric sportscar concepts that will be introduced next year.

The Morgan +E programme will give birth to two new prototypes, both based on the Aero Supersport’s aluminium chassis, but without the BMW-sourced 4.8-litre V8 engine, which will be replaced by a new derivative of Zytek’s electric powertrain.

Audi Urban Sportback Concept to be Joined by a Spyder Version at Frankfurt Show

At next month's Frankfurt auto show, Audi will show not one, but two variants of its Urban pure-electric city car concept. Following the presentation of the Urban Sportback (that's how the Germans describe the closed-top variant in its latest release) fitted with a sliding canopy, Audi today released the first renderings of the Spyder model.

Rather than simply chopping off the rood and strengthening the front windshield frame, Audi's designers opted for a low, continuous window area while the Spyder also gains a pair of doors that open upwards diagonally.

Kawasaki ZX-770R Concept: The Japanese Antidote to the KTM X-BOW

If KTM could pull it off with the X-BOW, then why couldn't any other motorcycle maker take the leap and venture into the automotive business with a special lightweight sports car? Though it is a simple question, (obviously) the answer is far more complex than it seems at a first glance.

But in the fantasy land of designers, there are no restrictions or limits, only a desire to create. And for Dutch designer Sabino Leerentveld, who we came to know through his Aston Martin V12 and BMW Nazca Homage prototypes, the answer to the previous question is the Kawasaki ZX-770R Concept.
