2012 Porsche 911 Carrera S Coupe Makes its Video Debut

We're expecting more news from Porsche on its latest generation of the 911 series at the Frankfurt auto show in September, but for now and for those that have already skimmed through the official photos and details, we have the first promotional video showing the 911 Carrera S Coupe uncloaked.

The short clip provides a look at the 991 on the road, along with the enticing sounds of the Carrera S' 3.8-liter, 400-horsepower flat-six soundtrack. You can watch it for yourself in the high-def video (1080p) after the break.

Video: Man Drowns Friend’s Porsche 911 Turbo into the Rheine River

Friends are supposed to, you know, be there for you whenever you need them, helping and supporting you. But that doesn't seem to be the case with two men from Switzerland that may have to face a potentially friend-shattering situation...

You see, friend number one lent his prized Porsche 911 Turbo to friend number two. And what did the latter do? Did he go to Germany to max it out in an autobahn? Did he get a ticket or the license plates seized by the Polizei? Did he have the car towed for parking illegally?

Nope…he just drove friend No1's supercar into the Rhine river. Not a pretty sight, as you can see from the "fishing" video that follows.

Porsche 911: A Timeline of the World's Most Famous Sports Car

If there were ever a more appropriate title for Porsche’s almost five decades old evolution of the 911, it would be “Against all Odds”. The reason being that the iconic model introduced in 1964 by Ferdinand Porsche, has proven to be a runaway success despite its shortcomings.

But let's take it from the beginning. First of all, it was Porsche’s second model after the 356 and it was unveiled at the Frankfurt Motor Show in 1963. Its original designation was the 901. However, Peugeot had registered all three-digit numbers with a “0” in the middle for its lineup, and Porsche was forced to change the name to 911.

More importantly, it was the layout that should have condemned the 911: physics dictate that the right place to put an engine in a car is either up front or in the middle. However, the 911 had its flat-six placed behind the rear axle.

Video: You Know You're a Cheapskate When…

It’s not a matter if you can, or depending on the local laws, if you're allowed to tie up a mattress pad on the roof of your car, but there's something fundamentally wrong when you do it to a Porsche 911 Turbo - even if it's an older generation model (996 in this case).

You can watch the video for yourself after the break, just make sure to mute the sound if you're at work as the person filming the 911 Turbo makes some (unnecessary) foul comments.

Porsche Shows All-New 911 Working out in the Arctic Circle

It may be a little late for showing the new 2012 Porsche 911 all-dressed up in black camouflage since the first photos of the sports car have already been spilled online, but we're not going to complain.

In this latest official video, Porsche takes us for a quick ride across the Arctic Circle where the German firm's engineers oversaw cold weather testing of the seventh-generation of the 911 in sub-zero temperatures. Take a deep breath, then follow the jump to watch the clip.

Man Sinks Porsche Boxster into a Lake [with Video]

Now here is something you don't hear about every day. A local businessman's new Porsche Boxster was discovered paritally submerged in a lake at the Parque Ecológico (Ecological Park) in São Paulo, Brazil on Friday, July 29.

Brazilian news site TV Sol found the owner of the car who told reporters under the condition of anonymity that he was driving through the park when lost control of the Porsche ending up into the lake.

And here's where the story gets slightly twisted as TV Sol also reported that eye witnesses placed the owner of the Boxster at a local restaurant the same night calling a cousin on the phone and telling him to "Throw the Porsche into the lake of the park".

New 2012 Porsche 911 Filmed on the Road…Again

Undisguised prototypes of the upcoming 2012 Porsche 911 are quickly becoming a more common sight than Bratwurst sausages in Germany.

In our latest encounter, a barely disguised 991 test car equipped with a sunroof was caught filling up at a gas station in Stuttgart before firing up its six-cylinder boxer engine and driving away.

Turn up the volume of your speakers and follow the jump to enjoy the video.
