BMW S 1000 RR |
BMW has offered the BMW S 1000 RR HP Race power kit that gives the bike an extra 6lb.ft 4bhp and torque. The BMW S 1000 RR HP Race kit Power developed the total travel 197bhp (147 kW) and 88.5 lb.ft (120 Nm) of torque thanks to a new ECU and an Akrapovic exhaust system. The BMW S 1000 RR HP Race Power Kit is the same as that used by Ayrton Badovini 2010 FIM Superstock 1000 Championship winning bike.
The BMW S 1000 RR HP Race power kit offers four engine management settings, rain, Sport, Race and slippery, and improves various properties of the bicycle. For example, the engine braking to reduce the excess, resulting in a more balanced and the entry of the corner of the BMW S 1000 RR HP Race power Kit limiter boxes when you press the start button remains active in first gear.

BMW Press Release:
The BMW Motorrad HP Race Power Kit is now available to S 1000 RR trackday riders and racers.
The kit - a new ECU and an Akrapovic exhaust system - increases peak power and torque while optimising the bike’s sophisticated engine, braking and power management systems for short circuit riding and racing.
Ayrton Badovini’s 2010 FIM Superstock 1000 championship-winning bike uses the HP Race Power Kit – and has already proven itself to be a devastatingly effective package. It can also be found on the Jentin Racing-BMW Motorrad S 1000 RR being raced by Richard Cooper in the British National Superstock championship.
Technical highlights of the HP Race Power Kit include:
- Maximum engine output increased by 4bhp and 6lb.ft to 197bhp (147kW) and 88.5 lb.ft (120 Nm) with power and torque significantly bolstered throughout the key 5000 to 9000 rpm midrange
- Once installed, the power mapping for the four engine management riding modes (‘Rain’, ‘Sport’, ‘Race’ and ‘Slick’) is identical and the S 1000 RR delivers the full 197bhp across all four
- The different modes instead alter the electronic rider aids with the Race ABS reducing input and the Dynamic Traction Control allowing full power at greater lean angles as the modes move from ‘Rain’ through to ‘Slick'.
- Engine braking on overrun is reduced giving more balanced corner entry
- Pit-lane limiter activated when the start button is held down in first gear (actual speed maintained may vary with the bike’s gearing)
- Akrapovic titanium and carbon-fibre full exhaust system saves 6.8kg over stock and includes a baffle which allows the exhaust to meet noise regulations in place at some circuits
Dave Alexander, BMW Motorrad Parts and Accessories Manager, said: “This kit has been developed with the championship-winning European Superstock team. It’s technology fed straight down from the World Superbike team, adapted by the Superstock racers and is now available for racing and trackday riding S 1000 RR owners. The Race Power Kit can help turn the S 1000 RR into a race winner – as Ayrton Badovini has proven!”
The four riding modes are pre-programmed - however, the HP Calibration Kit, due to be released later in the year, will allow settings to be customised.
The kit is available now August at a cost of £2467.08 including VAT. Owners and teams may fit the HP Race Power Kit; however, it must be checked and activated at a BMW Motorrad Dealership.
